It’s a common sight to see an older home with single pane windows, roll down fashion windows of yesteryear, little or no insulation in the outside walls. That was the typical home of the early seventies. Then along came more government control in the building codes and homes have improved in energy efficiency and in all aspects of construction. Typically depending on where you live “double pane” windows are standard. Insulation packages still have standard minimums, our suggestion is buy the most insulation you possibly can. It’s pay for insulation now while it’s cheap or pay later the big heating bills! |

Ceiling, wall and flooring insulation comes in different packages, and in the majority of the United States certain insulation packages can qualify you for a bill reduction from your local utility company. Your goal if buying a new home or a slightly used home is to qualify for that discount. Any dealer should be familiar with the qualifications for discounted utility bills. Contact your local utility company for more details. |
